Solgar® NAC 600 mg contains the amino acid N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine.

Amino acids are found in protein and support several functions within the body. They are classified as “essential” or “non-essential”. Essential amino acids cannot be made within the body and must be supplied by the diet and non- essential amino acids can be made within the body. Amino acids support normal production and function of hormones, enzymes, neurotransmitters, antibodies, and nutrient carriers. A suboptimal intake of the essential amino acids increases the body’s need for the non-essential amino acids. Foods that increase amino acid intake are protein foods like meat, beans, cheese, and eggs. 

NAC is a non-essential amino acid, and although it can be created within the body, dietary supplementation can assist dietary intake. NAC supports glutathione production and supports normal liver function. It supports normal fatty acid metabolism.
